Dholera SIR is Expected to be a Smart Industrial City in The Future

The area has been given the status of Special Investment Region (SIR) under The Gujarat Special Investment Region Act, 2009 on May 22, 2009. The area is approximately 920 sq. km and encompassing 22 villages*. The region is being developed as a Greenfield Industrial Smart City.

In the attempt to promote urban growth, 27 preliminary town plans have been created from 6 draft town planning schemes, with 11 currently being worked on. Following the town development blueprint, half the land, or 50%, is set aside for infrastructure and social development while the remaining half, which is also 50%, is given back to the landowners in a subdivided area called ‘final plats’ or incorporated in the form of final plots.
