The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has officially designated Dholera in Gujarat as an authorized customs location for the unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods, or any specific category of such goods. This designation was announced through Notification No. 25/2025 dated April 15, 2025.

The Board exercised its authority under clause (a) of sub-section (1), read with sub-section (2), of Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962 to make this designation. Consequently, CBIC has issued an amendment to the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Notification No. 61/94-Customs (N.T.) dated November 21, 1994, which was published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary), Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide S.O. 828(E) on the same date.
According to the amendment, in the table under the original notification, against serial number 6 for the State of Gujarat, and under column (3), the following entry has been added after item (e) and its corresponding details in column (4):
(1) | (2) | (3) | (4) |
“ (f) Dholera | Unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods or any class of such goods.” |
With this amendment, Dholera is now officially recognized as a customs location for handling import and export cargo, further strengthening its role as an emerging trade and logistics hub in Gujarat.
