Tata Electronics has partnered with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation to establish the first semiconductor fabrication plant in India located at Dholera, Gujarat. The American centers of the wafer fabrication equipment maker Lam Research Corporation also sees the need to support the local constituencies that will be affected by the semiconductor manufacturing plant and thus plans to establish an office in Dholera.
Lam Research to Provide Onsite Support
According to Rangesh Raghavan, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Lam Research India, there is also the need for on-site customer care executives who can handle the intricate requirements of semiconductor manufacturing, and this is the purpose of this initiative. Adding, Lam Research chips in its cutting edge technology to the semiconductor components front end, which involves starting wafer processing and fabrication of cross junctions and transistors and even interconnects.
The company’s technical prowess is amply displayed where its Semiverse virtual fabrication modeling system has been integrated into the majority of structures allowing effective modelling and simulation capabilities to be executed. According to reports, India’s semiconductor market is estimated to boom from the current $23.2 billion to $80.3 billion in 2028, as demand for AI, electronics, and smart devices skyrocket. Such substantial growth is made possible through the myriad incentives brought about by the Semiconductor policy of 2020 launched by the Indian government which has measures like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme where the aim is to enhance self-sufficiency and curtail reliance on imports.
